Gladiators Tie with Undefeated Jump Street

The American Gladiators tied their contest 4-4 with the top-seeded 21 Jump Street on Sunday night at the MSA. Gladiator goalie Joe Renfro had a solid performance with 28 saves and a .875 save percentage.  The AGs were also spearheaded by their special teams with Tom Osinkosky netting a shortie and Gladiator captian Rob Lovaglio capitalizing on two PP opportunities.

The AGs got on the board first with a SHG scored by Osinkosky at 7:08 of the first.  Two minutes later, on the PP, Lovaglio punched in a rebound to put the Red up 2-0.  Lovaglio was assisted by defenseman Ryan Miller and winger Kevin Murray.  Jump Street scored less than 20 seconds later with a 60-ft wrister that snuck by Renfro.  The first period ended 2-1 in favor of the Gladiators.

Back-and-forth rushes characterized the second period with tough defense on both ends of the ice.  Another PP opportunity at 9:35 saw Red defenseman Dalton Ford launch a 55-foot wrister from the point that connected with Street's goalie Seamus "Moose" Moody's left leg pad.  Gladiator Brian Slaughter pounced on the rebound, the puck slid left in the crease, and Lovaglio punched it home to put the AGs up by 2.  Jump Street answered back with two goals in the second, one at 7:12 and another at 4:15 to end the second knotted at 3 apiece.

The Gladiators went up 4-3 at 8:54 of the third when center Osinkosky and AJ Maher executed a pretty give-and-go ending with Big O lighting the lamp.  A long shift and defensive breakdown by the Red at 4:01 in the third resulted in Jump Street star Kenny Lohr skating circles around the Gladiator crease and lifting a shot past Renfro to tie the game.

Jump Street outshot the Gladiators 32-20 in the contest.  The AGs went 2/3 on the PP and 3/3 on the PK.

Red takes on Teal (Diff'rent Strokes) at 8:30PM on Wednesday, March 7th at the MSA.
